Since 1990, St. Mary's has provided home hospice care services for patients needing quality, compassionate "end of life care". Hospice care is not limited to the elderly but is provided to patients of all ages and all life-limiting illnesses. A team of nurses, social workers, home health aides, chaplains, physicians, and volunteers work together to meet the spiritual, physical, psychological and emotional needs of the patient and their families.
In 2006, St. Mary's opened the area’s only inpatient hospice house. St. Mary’s Hospice House is a 12-bed facility located adjacent to St. Mary's Highland Hills Village. In addition to private rooms, the Hospice House offers space for families and a chapel for services and reflection. The home-like feeling and ability to be surrounded by family and friends at any time of the day or night, nurtures the patient's spiritual and emotional needs while providing medical care. For a virtual tour and more information visit St. Mary's Hospice House.
To ensure hospice services are available to all in need, regardless of ability to pay, St. Mary’s Auxiliary began the “Walkway of Faith” memorial fundraiser.
