For other injuries when your doctor’s office is closed, our Emergency Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Getting the right treatment requires getting the right diagnosis. St. Mary’s provides highly sophisticated radiological services such as digital x-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound. Most services are available at St. Mary’s Outpatient Diagnostic, Rehab and Wellness Center off Ga. 316 as well as at St. Mary’s Hospital on Baxter Street. If surgery is required, St. Mary’s Outpatient Surgical Center and Main Operating Rooms provide a modern, caring and highly sterile setting for everything from minor cartilage repair to reconstructions and replacements. St. Mary’s is proud to be ranked in the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide for quality of care in knee replacement. Care continues with St. Mary’s inpatient rehabilitation services, providing physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology services to patients while they are in the hospital. Patients who need intensive rehabilitation can receive it here in Athens at the Center for Rehabilitative Medicine at St. Mary’s. This unique unit helps patients who need additional care reach their maximum level of ability after orthopedic procedures, strokes, head injuries and more than a dozen other diagnoses. The center, the first of its kind in the Athens area, provides intensive physical, occupational and speech-language therapy in a facility that encourages patients to get up, move around and interact with other people. The goal is to help patients return to the highest level of function – and the most normal life possible – following their discharge. After discharge or for patients who don’t need inpatient care, St. Mary’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Center at 2470 Daniells Bridge Road offers a complete range of rehab services ,including physical, occupational and speech/language therapy. Our outpatient rehab staff includes therapists who specialize in helping people return to active living, including sports. Special programs are available for children with injuries and/or developmental delays, including an innovative trapeze program in conjunction with Canopy Studio. To help you stay in great shape and keep your joints – and cardiovascular system – healthy, St. Mary’s Wellness Center offers a fully equipped gym, exercise classes and fitness consultations with our experienced exercise specialists. St. Mary’s Wellness Center also features a post-rehab program to help you to continue the advances in strength, flexibility and range of motion that you made in rehab. Finally, if you have a chronic joint problem such as arthritis, St. Mary’s Joint Support Club provides information and support that you might find helpful. This group gets together on the second Mondays of each month at 11:30 a.m. for lunch, a program and sharing with other members. The group, sponsored by St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Services, gives participants a chance to learn more about arthritis and other joint conditions, while making friends and having fun.
